Oh, hello there

Wow, it's been, what... 7 months since my last journal? That's silly.
As you may have noticed, I got a shiny new camera, and have been playing around with it. She's a Nikon D5000, and her name is November
In other news, after a long break due to ridiculous writer's block, I finally finished the chapter I was working on in WNM today, and started on the next (Chapter 17). I'm excited, because it's leading up to what I expect to be a very fun chapter, followed by the introduction of another character and movement towards the climax. Maybe I'll actually get there. Let's hope.
Also, I've been doing a lot of programming. Not on the SHRPG online game-- that project is semi-on-hold for the moment-- but on a new message board software tailored to role playing. We've been using phpBB2 for ours since the beginning something like 7 years ago-- Jeez, has it been that long?-- and it works well enough, but I wanted to try my hand at something a bit more lightweight, and a bit friendlier to our uses. In particular? Auto-saved message drafts, like Gmail.
Next, I've been reading quite a bit recently. I finally got to read Wicked just the other week, and I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies now. If you like Jane Austen and you like zombies-- or maybe if you *hate* Jane Austen, but like zombies-- this is your book. It's pretty much amazing. My only complaint is that Elizabeth supposedly trained in China, but she uses a Katana, which is Japanese. Especially when they very clearly separate the two countries in terms of the value of their fighting techniques, this seems like a grave omission. That aside, though, it's a really fun read, and I find myself grinning the whole way through.
Last, if you have a Wii and haven't gotten WiiSports Resort, you're missing out in a serious way. It has *sword fighting*. And 15 other games, but the main point here is SWORD FIGHTING. And it doesn't SUCK. Where has this game BEEN all my life?!

Writing

I decided to submit another chapter of WNM to prove that I am, in fact, writing again. Not intensely by any means, but I think I've done roughly two chapters' worth of writing since summer started. Again, not life-changing, but it's progress
Otherwise, I've started playing Knights of the Old Republic again... way too much. The idea of Star Wars: The Old Republic (google it) got me interested in Star Wars again, so I thought I'd actually try to finish KotOR. Let's just say it's addictive. Even when I mess up a part and have to redo almost an hour's worth of work, which I have to redo again because my computer crashed as I was saving, consequently destroying my quicksave completely. Yeah.
In other news, if you were a fan of Hana Yori Dango, I recommend you check out the Korean version (Called "Boys over Flowers," big surprise). It's not exactly the same as the Japanese version, but it's done very well. It gets bonus points for putting more importance on the Soujirou character (his Korean equivalent's name is Yi Jang) -- he is clearly the coolest F4. Also on the subject of Korean dramas, "Delightful Girl Choon Hyang" is amazing.
Now I'm rambling, but in the JDrama scene I've been watching "Dragon Zakura" which I'm surprised how much I enjoy. It's about an ex-biker gang lawyer who starts a special class to help kids at this really stupid high school get into the most prestigious college in Japan. Maybe I just like it because it has Nagasawa Masami <3
Anyway, I'm done rambling.

So I'm taking a short break from doing work, because it is super hard to focus on these superfluous academic texts >_<
After how many years, I finally got around to making a new avatar. Isn't it tasty?
As far as the WRAITH story goes, I AM in fact still writing it. Progress is reeeeally slow for various reasons, but I have actually written a few more pages since the last time I said I was still working on it. Not saying much, but at least I haven't actually stopped!
As far as the SHRPG game, progress has stopped in the past few weeks, for reasons that probably overlap with the above. But again, this isn't a stopped progress by any means!
In other news, as you might have noticed, I've been trying to get into latte art. Slowly, slowly, I'm getting to a point where I can make recognizable art. It'd be nice to have a nicer espresso machine so I could be more consistent at steaming the milk, but I'm on a college budget, of course, so.... Gotta take what I can get.
Anyway, that's it for now. Back to studying, I suppose >_<

What the heck?

The profile pages are all crazy new now. But I kind of like 'em. Actually, there's some really spiffy new features that I haven't had time to play with yet (at all).
But enough of that.
So I never actually did that "two chapters a week" thing I'd hoped to do. Haha. Right now I'm at a point in chapter 12 where it's only barely long enough, but I feel like it's a good place to stop. Combined with my business with other things, that's pretty much why I haven't written more -- I don't know how to make chapter 12 longer and still end well. I guess I just have to start on 13 and go with it, but.... Well, I'll get there eventually
Mostly, besides studying (haha, jk XP) I've been programming. Some of that is for a little pet project of mine that just isn't working out, but a lot of work has gone into SHRPG. I'm very nearly at the point where I can make combat happen -- hurray! For more details on that, head over to the development blog: blog.silverhearts.net

Progress update

So I'm no where near that "two chapters a week" schedule I was hoping for, haha. Now that I'm home and my brother's up and my sister and her family will be here soon, I've just been relaxing, and haven't gotten a whole lot of work done on much of anything. I've been playing piano and violin, and some video games (I picked up Tomb Raider: Underworld from Blockbuster today and am more or less hooked) and that's about it.
But, I haven't given up. I am still making progress on the story, if slowly. I am more than half way done with Chapter 11! (Which is a sneaky way of saying that I've written about a page and a half in a week...)
Anyway... that's about it. Progress on my game is paused until I decide exactly what I want to work on next -- I'm not stuck, exactly, I just need to force myself to get out of "relax" mode and into "programming" mode More details on my progress at the SHRPG dev blog (blog.silverhearts.net)
